🛠️ Installation Tips
-
Replace as a Pair: Even if only one side is leaking, we recommend replacing both front calipers simultaneously. Uneven braking pressure between a new and old caliper can cause the steering wheel to pull sharply to one side during an emergency stop.
-
Copper Washers: Always use the new copper crush washers included in the kit for the banjo bolts. Reusing old washers is the #1 cause of slow fluid leaks and "spongy" pedal feel.
-
Slide Pin Lubrication: While these come pre-assembled, it is a pro tip to apply a small amount of high-temp silicone brake grease to the slide pins. This ensures the "floating" caliper moves freely, preventing uneven pad wear.
-
Bleeding Sequence: On the Mule PRO-MX, start bleeding at the caliper furthest from the master cylinder (usually the Front Right) and then move to the Front Left. Continue until the fluid is clear and free of air bubbles.
-
Bedding the Pads: After installation, perform several slow-speed stops (approx. 10–15 mph) to properly "seat" the new brake pads to your rotors. This prevents glazing and ensures maximum friction.
🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Pulling to One Side | Air in one line or stuck piston. | Re-bleed the side that is not pulling. If it pulls left, the right caliper is likely not engaging fully. |
| Squealing After Install | Vibration or un-greased pins. | Ensure the anti-rattle clips are seated correctly. Apply brake quiet paste to the back of the pads (never the friction side). |
| Spongy Brake Pedal | Air trapped in the system. | Perform a full system bleed. Ensure the master cylinder reservoir never drops below the "Low" line during the process. |
| Brakes Dragging/Heat | Seized slide pins or collapsed hose. | Verify the caliper slides back and forth easily. If the caliper is new but the brakes stay "on," your rubber brake hose may be collapsed internally. |
| Low Brake Fluid Warning | Leak at the banjo bolt. | Check the copper washers. Ensure the banjo bolt is torqued to spec; over-tightening can crack the bolt, while under-tightening causes leaks. |
