🛠️ Installation Tips

  • Seal the Tank: After removing the old pump, cover the fuel tank opening with a clean lint-free cloth. Even a single grain of sand falling into the tank can bypass the filter and clog your fuel injector.

  • The "O-Ring" Rule: Always use the new gasket/seal included in the kit. Apply a tiny amount of clean fuel or silicone grease to the seal to ensure it seats perfectly without pinching.

  • Spring & Filter Placement: When replacing the oil filter, ensure the retaining spring is installed in the correct orientation (behind the filter). If the spring is missing or backwards, oil will bypass the filter entirely.

  • Bleed the Air: After installation, cycle the ignition key (or kick the starter lightly if no battery) several times to prime the pump and push air out of the fuel line before attempting to start the engine.

  • Electrical Connection: Ensure the fuel pump electrical connector "clicks" into place. Vibration on a motocross track can easily loosen a partially seated plug.

🔍 Troubleshooting Guide

Issue  Possible Cause  Solution
Bogs on Jump Landings Debris in the fuel pickup or weak pump. Hard landings can stir up sediment in the tank. Replacing the full assembly with a new strainer solves this.
Hard to Start (Hot) Internal pump check valve failure. If the bike starts cold but struggles when hot, the pump may be losing prime. A new assembly restores the required 50+ PSI.
"Popping" at High RPM Fuel starvation (Lean condition). If the pump can't maintain high-volume flow, the engine runs lean, leading to popping and potential piston damage.
No "Whirr" Sound Blown fuse or seized pump motor. Check the EFI fuse. If the fuse is good but the pump is silent when the bike is kicked/turned on, the motor is dead.
Oil Leak at Filter Cap Pinched gasket or missing spring. Ensure the oil filter cover gasket is seated and the spring is providing tension against the filter.
