🛠️ Installation Tips
-
Clean the Differential Housing: Before installing the new axle, clean the interior of the differential and the axle carrier. Remove any old grease or metal shavings from the previous axle failure.
-
Lubricate the Splines: Apply a high-quality Molybdenum Disulfide grease to the splines that enter the differential and the wheel hubs. This prevents the metal from "welding" together over time due to rust and friction.
-
Protect the Oil Seals: Be extremely careful not to nick or tear the rubber oil seals in the differential when sliding the axle in. A damaged seal will lead to a messy gear oil leak.
-
Check the Axle Nut Torque: Always use a torque wrench to tighten the rear axle nut to factory specifications. An under-tightened nut is the leading cause of stripped hub splines.
-
Alignment Check: Ensure the axle is fully seated. If you are having trouble, check for any debris inside the differential gear. Never force it in with a heavy sledgehammer

🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Clicking/Popping Noise | Worn splines or loose hub. | Check the connection between the axle and the wheel hub. If the splines are "rounded," the hub and axle must be replaced together. |
| Rear Wheel Vibration | Bent axle shaft. | Inspect the axle for runout while spinning. Even a slight bend caused by a rock strike can cause significant vibration at speed. |
| Oil Leaking onto Wheels | Failed differential oil seals. | While the axle itself doesn't contain oil, it passes through the differential. If oil is visible on the shaft, your inner oil seals need replacement. |
| Rear End "Shifting" | Loose axle bearings. | If the axle moves up and down or side to side inside the carrier, your carrier bearings are shot and should be replaced with the axle. |
| Rust Seizing | Lack of lubrication. | If the old axle was difficult to remove, ensure the new one is coated in anti-seize or grease to make future maintenance easier. |
