🛠️ Installation Tips
-
Battery Safety: Always disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on any electrical components to prevent short circuits.
-
Plug Compatibility: Before mounting, compare the plug/connector of the new switch with your original one. Ensure the pins line up correctly.
-
Route Carefully: Follow the original wiring path along the handlebar. Use zip ties to secure the wire, but avoid overtightening, which can pinch the internal wires or restrict handlebar movement.
-
Waterproof the Connection: Since this is for a Jet Ski, we highly recommend applying a small amount of dielectric grease (silicone grease) inside the electrical connector to prevent corrosion from moisture and salt.
-
Safety Lanyard Check: Ensure the "Kill Switch" lanyard (tether) is properly seated before testing. The engine will not start if the clip is not fully engaging the switch.
🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| Engine Won't Crank | Loose connector or blown fuse. | Check the plug connection. Inspect the main fuse and the starter relay fuse. |
| No Spark/Won't Start | Lanyard clip not fully seated. | Ensure the safety lanyard clip is firmly pushed into the "Stop" button. Without this, the ignition circuit remains grounded. |
| Start Button Inactive | Corroded terminals or low battery. | Clean the connector pins with contact cleaner. Ensure your battery has at least 12.6V. |
| Engine Dies Randomly | Pinched wire or loose ground. | Inspect the wiring harness for any signs of wear or spots where it might be pinching when the handlebars turn. |
| Button Sticking | Salt or sand buildup. | Rinse the switch housing with fresh water after use in salt water. Do not use heavy oils; use a dry silicone spray if needed. |
