🛠️ Installation Tips
-
The Marine Seal: When routing the harness through the handlebars, ensure the rubber grommet is seated perfectly. Apply a bead of marine-grade RTV silicone around the wire exit point to keep the inside of your hull dry during aggressive turns.
-
Dielectric Grease: These 90s-era connectors are prone to "green crust" corrosion. Slather the pins with dielectric grease before clicking the plug into the main harness to ensure a 100% waterproof connection.
-
Route Before Tightening: Route the wiring harness through the factory clips before you bolt the switch housing to the bar. Turn the bars fully to both sides to make sure there is no "tugging" on the wires.
-
Inspect the Lanyard: If your model uses an integrated lanyard post, test the spring tension immediately. The button should snap back outward with force. If it's sluggish, it could cause the engine to cut out randomly while you're jumping wakes.
-
Check the Ground: Older Kawasaki 750s are notorious for bad grounds. While you have the electrical box open to plug this in, verify that the main black ground wire is clean and tight against the terminal.
🔍 Troubleshooting Guide
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
| No Crank/No Click | Corroded Start button or dead battery. | If the battery is healthy, the internal contacts of the "Start" button have likely oxidized. Replace the switch to restore the circuit. |
| Engine Won't Shut Off | Shorted "Stop" button. | Major Safety Risk: If the stop button fails, moisture has likely fused the internal contacts. Replace the assembly immediately to regain control. |
| Intermittent Stalling | Faulty Kill Switch/Lanyard post. | If the ski dies when hitting waves, the safety switch spring is likely weak. This new unit provides the firm tension needed for high-speed chop. |
| "Sticky" Buttons | Salt crystal accumulation. | After riding in salt water, always rinse the switch box with fresh water. If the buttons already feel "crunchy," the seals have failed. |
| Starter Spins but Won't Fire | Kill Switch active or Fouled Plugs. | Ensure the safety lanyard is fully seated. If the switch is new and the lanyard is on, check your spark plugs next. |
