💡 Professional Tips for a Successful Install:
-
1. Use Threadlocker (Critical): Always apply a medium-strength threadlocker (e.g., Blue Loctite) to the stator mounting bolts and the pickup coil screws. Engine vibrations can loosen these over time, causing severe internal damage.
-
2. Inspect the Wood ruff Key: When removing the old flywheel, inspect the woodruff key on the crankshaft. If it shows signs of wear or shearing, replace it immediately to ensure perfect ignition timing.
-
3. Clean the Mating Surfaces: Ensure the crankshaft taper and the flywheel center are clean and free of oil/grease before installation. A dry, clean fit ensures the flywheel stays locked in place.
-
4. Proper Torque Specs: Use a torque wrench to tighten the flywheel nut to the manufacturer's specified torque. Do not rely solely on an impact wrench, as it can over-stress the crankshaft.
-
5. Check the Regulator/Rectifier: A failed stator often damages the regulator/rectifier (and vice versa). We strongly recommend testing your regulator after installation to ensure it isn't overcharging your new components.
-
6. Dielectric Grease: Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the electrical connectors to prevent corrosion, especially if you ride in muddy or wet conditions.
