🛠️ Installation Tips

  • Identify the Side: This axle (20377G11) is for the Passenger Side (Right) only. Ensure you are replacing the correct side, as the driver-side axle is a different length.

  • Remove the Snap Ring: You will need a good pair of internal snap ring pliers to remove the retaining ring inside the axle tube. Be careful not to over-stretch the ring during removal.

  • Press-Fit Warning: The bearing and retaining ring come pre-pressed on many high-quality kits. If your kit requires assembly, never hammer the bearing directly onto the shaft. Use a press or a pipe driver that only contacts the inner race of the bearing.

  • Inspect the Hub Splines: While the axle is out, check your brake drum/wheel hub splines. EZGO hubs are "softer" than the axle; if the hub splines are stripped, a new axle won't fix the slipping issue.

  • Clean the Tube: Thoroughly clean the inside of the axle tube before sliding the new shaft in. Any leftover metal shards from a previous bearing failure will quickly destroy your new seals.

  • Grease the Seal: Apply a light coat of grease to the outer lip of the oil seal to help it slide in without tearing and to ensure a perfect waterproof seal.

🔍 Troubleshooting Guide

Issue Possible Cause Solution
Grinding/Squeaking Noise Dry or worn axle bearing. A "chirping" or grinding sound while driving usually indicates the bearing has failed due to moisture. Replace the axle and bearing immediately.
Cart Won't Move (Motor Spins) Stripped hub or axle splines. This is common on EZGOs. Check if the axle nut turns while the cart is in gear but not moving. If it turns, your hub is stripped. If it doesn't, the axle splines may be gone.
Oil Leak at the Wheel Failed inner oil seal. If you see gear oil on the inside of your tire or brake drum, the seal is blown. Replace the seal and inspect the axle surface for pitting.
Wobbling Rear Wheel Bent axle shaft or loose lug nuts. Jack up the cart and spin the wheel. If the tire wobbles, it’s usually a bent axle from hitting a curb or hole.
Axle Slides Out Snap ring not seated properly. Ensure the internal snap ring is fully clicked into its groove. If it’s loose, the axle can migrate outwards, leading to brake failure.
